The reason for this is that at the ripe ol' age of 21 - I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. This basically means I messed up a nerve in my wrist, suffer from constant pins and needles in my right hand.. and it cramps. A lot.
So on the doctor's orders, I've been wearing a sexy-ass wrist brace and been "taking it easy" - which meant a break from sewing. And typing. And writing. And drawing. Oh God, it's been boring!

| Mmm. Sexy. |
But I've been thinking about sewing a lot lately [You never miss things until they're gone!], as well as the blog, and come to the conclusion that I need to go back to exactly why I sew. Because I shouldn't be sewing for the blog, or to impress people - I should sew, and got into sewing because, I want clothes that I like, that fit me, and that reflect me as a person.
The reason why I ever started sewing was pure and simple - Style.

| That brooch is actually a merkin. Yeah. That sort of merkin. |
And so I'm bringing an aspect of personal style into the blog - me-made style, if you will - for two reasons;
I make clothes, why don't I show off just how I wear them? And I'm in a
rut with my style - I don't do much lately, so I want to motivate myself
to look fabulous all the time.

To kickstart; My polkadot circle skirt! Paired with pretty much nothing but Primark crap. No seriously. Bar the necklace and 'brooch', it's all Primark. I'm not ashamed.
And so that kicks off a me-made style part of the blog - onwards and upwards from here! And hopefully my wonky face will stop being wonky in future!
For now; Thank you for reaching 10,000 views on my blog, and thank you to the 50+ followers that all came about in my little break - you guys are awesome!

Awww, your poor hand. I'll probably end up with CTS, but it's not going to stop me from sewing or drawing. I'll do that shit until my hands fall off.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain hun - Just been confirmed by the do that I have repetitive strain injury in both my thumbs as a result of all the sewing and crocheting and jewelry making I do. I do my best to just grit my teeth and push through but CT syndrome isn't so forgiving from what I have heard. hope you heal up soon and can get back to crafting. xXx
ReplyDeleteOh, it's absolutely horrendous at times!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about the RSI - believe a doctor when they say that rest helps, though! I hope you get back to full thumb-health, too!
